Planning for active cities that reflect our multi-cultural society - what do young people really want to see. Culture Spring, a youth-led program within CMY, has been providing VicHealth support and guidance on a CivVic Labs project aimed at tackling the health problems facing young people. This project has a big focus on spaces.

Biography

Thomas (Toyo) White (he/they) is a 22 year-old student and project support officer at Culture Spring within the Centre for Multicultural Youth. They have been involved in policy discussions on youth determinants of health, youth engagement, climate change, and gambling reform. Thomas is passionate about the importance of well-designed, community-led approaches to planning communities that can increase active transport, walkability, and community connection, all of which contribute to much more active, healthy, and inclusive lifestyle-options. They want to help create solutions to problems that are informed and led by young people, and align very closely with Culture core mission. They are always up for a yarn, so if you find them on the conference floor, start up a conversation!

Biography

A passionate urban practitioner with over 20 years' experience in open space planning, design and project delivery. Alli gives voice to current and future communities through her commitment to genuine engagement, data-based evidence, social research and environmentally conscious practices. Alli is a Senior Project Coordinator with the Parks and City Greening Branch at City of Melbourne and is the Board president of Play Australia, the national peak body for play.
