Within a highly casual workforce, the COVID pandemic has shown our weaknesses, with significant shortages of staff and leaders impacting on succession planning and ability to deliver services to the level we would all like. Biography

Kathy has over 30 years’ experience working within the Community services sector in roles within the Not for Profit, Federal Government, State Government and Local Government sectors. In November 2019 Kathy commenced as CEO Aquatics and Recreation Victoria. Kathy has been a board member of Aquatics and Recreation Victoria since 2018. Prior to this Kathy was the Manager Community Wellbeing at Knox City Council responsible for leading Councils strategic planning, policy development, social and community infrastructure, community development, research and provision of programs and services to support Council’s goals to promote and protect the health and wellbeing of the Knox community. Kathy has a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA), and is an associate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Biography

RJ is the General Manager – Capability & Industry at Royal Life Saving Australia. RJ’s role at Royal Life Saving focusses on industry development and capability, bringing industry, community and government organisations together to develop joint strategies and guidance, as well as advocating the industry's impact and importance. RJ has worked in aquatics for 18 years across local government, non-profits, aquatic facility management organisations and peak bodies. RJ oversees RLSSA's VET Training & Aquatic Industry Workforce Development, Aquatic Education and Swimming Skills, Sport of Lifesaving & Australian Pool Life Saving Championships, Inland Waterway Projects, Aquatic Risk & Safety and Aquatic Industry Advocacy & Development portfolios. RJ is currently studying a Master of Business Administration (Social Impact) at the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales.

Biography

Shane is the CEO of Aligned Leisure, a wholly-owned business of the Richmond Football Club. The Club uses its profile and reach to deliver on its purpose of connecting with communities, allowing them to thrive and win. He has worked in senior sports and leisure industry roles for over 25 years, including planning and management roles at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Shane holds an MBA from Victoria University and has completed executive-level education at Harvard University. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Life Saving Victoria.
