Appreciating the different approaches to measuring community impact will be dependent upon the perspectives and lens that the client wants, whether that be a global NGO, national or local body, will impact on what data people collect, the insights required, and the outcomes measured. Exploring the options around social value, social capital and Social return on investment together with the approach that WHO are promoting of identifying common indicators that all countries can use. 10-minute presentations with remaining time for Q+A.

Biography

Full Tenured Professor (Catedrático) of Exercise Science & Health at King Juan Carlos University, Centre for Sports Studies, Head of THiNKactive (EuropeActive´s new Research Centre) and Director of the National Observatory of Fundación España Activa. Alfonso is also an elected member of the Board of Directors of EuropeActive (Ethics and Strategy Committees), member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the ukactive Research Institute (where he served as Founding Director); and Chief Research and Innovation Officer at GO fit, heading the so-called GO fit LAB as PI. He is serving as Visiting Professor at the Universities of Victoria (Melbourne, Australia), Sheffield Hallam (Sheffield, UK), Coventry (Coventry, UK) and Greenwich (London, UK).

Biography

Nicola has over 20 years of experience working in research and strategic insights roles across UK, Australia and New Zealand. Whilst working in New Zealand she has held roles within the Auckland Council Major Events arm and at Aktive – Auckland Sport and Recreation, before moving to Sport New Zealand Ihi Aotearoa to take up the role of Manager, Research Evaluation and Insights. Outside of work she is the proud mum of a 7-year-old girl, sits on the Board of the local primary school, and is the manager/coach of her daughter’s netball team.
