Get Skilled Access

Innovative partnerships to align with community needs to reach the 25% of the community that have some sort of disability. Understanding what that means allows for targeted community development programs around exercise, play, recreation and community sport to be developed.

1:55 PM - 2:05 PM

Biography

Ben is part of the senior leadership team at Get Skilled Access, managing projects across a wide range of industries. He specialises in face-to-face presentation delivery, workshop facilitation, and building inclusive cultures within organisations. Ben brings a vast range of both professional and personal experiences to his role. He has experienced society both with and without a disability. He has run his own business as a person with a disability, worked closely with small to medium businesses as an access and inclusion consultant, and coached a basketball team without being able to see. Ben lost 98% of his eyesight overnight at age 16. He knows firsthand the challenges faced by people with disabilities, as well as the importance and impact of inclusion. He is passionate about building people's confidence around disability and why disability should not dictate who someone is or what they are capable of. Disability does not stop Ben, either professionally or personally. He is the first blind person to compete in the Southern 80 water ski race, has crossed the Kokoda track twice, and loves riding motorbikes.
