Darryl Condon is interested in design that acts as a catalyst for positive social change. As Managing Principal at Vancouver-based architecture and design studio, hcma, he has created engaging public spaces across Canada for more than 30 years, including community centres, libraries, swimming pools, ice arenas and high-performance sport facilities.
He has lectured extensively across North America, South America, Europe and Australia. Most recently, these talks have focused on designing for social impact, inclusion and accessibility, the future of community recreation, and the power of transformative architectural practice.
Darryl is a registered Architect, and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He is a Vice-President of the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS), a Past-President of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

Klaus is Secretary General of IAKS, the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities. IAKS is the leading global non-profit organisation for professionals from the sports, leisure, and recreation facilities industry.
Since 1965, IAKS has been enabling international networking for the exchange of planning, design, and operational expertise. IAKS is an IOC Recognized Organization and cooperates with the IPC and many more international non-profit bodies.
Amongst his multiple responsibilities, Klaus is involved in programming the biannual IAKS Congress held every two years together with FSB, the world’s leading trade fair for public space, sports and leisure facilities, in Cologne/Germany. This year, the congress theme is “Building resilient communities through sports and leisure facilities”.

Brett brings over 20 years of dedicated Sports Architecture understanding and experience. He is focused on the delivery of sporting infrastructure and the ability to positively impact communities and respond to the ambitions of local governments. He understands the processes and demands of sports and recreation facilities and ensures that design, sustainability, and technical excellence are given equal emphasis through all phases.
He is highly sought for his expertise and has an exceptional portfolio of projects including the La Trobe University Sports Park and Stadium, Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Parakiore Recreation Centre, John Cain Arena, Rod Laver Arena, and the Melbourne Park Masterplan.
