Biography

David has worked with the sport of Hockey for the past 8.5 years and in Sport for 13 years. He currently works with Hockey Australia as Senior Manager National Strategic Projects. His previous roles included 6 years as CEO, Hockey NSW which followed 5 years at Cricket NSW as GM, State Cricket Department. He was awarded the Administrator of the Year in 2017 at the Sports NSW Awards for his achievements at Hockey NSW. David’s core capabilities of key stakeholder management, the development and implementation of commercial strategies combined with his team leadership skills have provided positive results to his career in sport.

AFL investment strategy to grow the game

Biography

Shayne is the Head of Facilities, State and Local Government at the AFL. In this role, he leads a team that aims to implement Towards 2030, Australian Football’s National Infrastructure Plan in partnership with government and other bodies. He has worked in the AFL industry for 14 years, and before that he worked in leadership roles within both State and Local Government, including 8 years at Sport and Recreation Victoria leading their sports infrastructure and planning unit. He possesses an MBA qualification and a Degree in Recreation Management. Away from work, he loves volunteering in community sport and watching and supporting his children in their many and varied sporting pursuits.

Sebastian Hassett has been the Head of Government Relations & Strategy at Football Victoria since 2019. He has worked in the sports industry for 20 years, holding roles in advisory, consulting, club development and communications, holding senior positions at both the Sydney Morning Herald and SBS TV.
