Speaker
Mark Curr
Local Government Play Consultant
Sport New Zealand
Community spatial mapping around NZ schools and subsequent interventions/activations
11:18 AM - 11:33 AMBiography
Mark is Part of Sport New Zealand Ihi Aotearoas Play Unit, who work everyday to bring their Plan Kia Hîanga to life across New Zealand communities.
In his current role as a Local Government Play Advisor, Mark is working to grow a national workforce which supports Territorial Authorities to consider tamariki in their planning. Prior to this, Mark has a long history in local government, regional sports trusts and active transport, both in Aotearoa and the United Kingdom. The common thread in each of these roles was driving the growth of wellbeing through physical activity.
Marks formative play memory is of endless days of cricket and pretending to be Andrew Mehrtens, goal kicking over the swingset at Abberley Park in Otautahi Christchurch. Mark spends his free time playing ‘babies’ with Frankie (5) and standing on bits of Marcels (10) lego.
