Biography

Jan is CEO of Sports Environment Alliance (SEA). SEA’s purpose is to lead, educate and empower the sport ecosystem to take action for and influence a sustainable and regenerative future. SEA’s membership comprises sporting organisations across Australia and New Zealand, ranging from national sporting organisations to small community clubs. SEA provides resources, training, events, and networking opportunities for members to learn together and collaborate, to empower action on reducing their environment and carbon footprints. Jan’s diverse executive career has encompassed retail, banking, government, consulting and chartered accounting, with roles in operations, accounting, and sustainability. For the past 25 years, most of her roles have had sustainability/ESG at their heart, and she is passionate about making a difference in this world. Jan is also a non-executive director and board chair and has served on many boards and committees including in the sports sector. She is currently Chair of Destination Gippsland, and a Board committee member of FightMND. In her spare time Jan is a keen runner, skier, and cyclist, enjoys the occasional hit of golf, and loves camping and hiking in the great outdoors. She is passionate about working with SEA’s sporting community to deliver positive outcomes for this world we all love to play in.

Claire is the CEO and Founder of Sport Positive, supporting the global sports industry to increase action and ambition on climate change through direct support, community creation, the annual Sport Positive Summit, Sport Positive Leagues and The Climate of Sport podcast. A consultant to UNFCCC from the inception of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework, she still collaborates closely with the Secretariat team as the Framework evolves and progresses. Sport Positive Summit is the leading global meeting place for sports effecting positive environmental impacts, in collaboration with UNFCCC Global Climate Action and the International Olympic Committee. Sport Positive Leagues rank and highlight environmental sustainability efforts of top flight sports organisations, to drive industry progress. Her views and work have been covered by BBC Sport, Sky Sports News, BT Sport, Euronews, The Independent, Reuters, The Times, The New York Times, The Japan Times, Forbes, The Athletic, Rouleur, Euractiv, Ecolospot and more. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, and spoke at 8 climate change and sport events at COP26 in Glasgow, including within the COP Blue Zone Action Hub, New York Times Climate Hub and The Times Earth Hub. Additionally Claire is the Principal of ClearBright Consulting; Trustee of UK-based food waste and education charity, UKHarvest; Advisory Board Member for Ecoathletes and The Sport Ecology Group; Advisory Committee Member for The Council for Responsible Sport's Standard for Organisations and IWBI's WELL Advisory on Sports and Entertainment Venues. She is also part of the Albert Sports Consortium, for sports broadcasters to tackle their environmental footprint.

Biography

Alexia has had over 25 years' experience within the field of Leisure and Recreation. Alexia has gained her experience in local government (metro, rural and regional), private business, higher education and the not-for-profit sector. Highly regarded within the industry and seen as an innovative leader, Alexia has delivered business improvement programs in increasingly competitive environments. Alexia is a multiple award winner receiving awards for centre management practices, business improvement programs, staff development and leadership. Alexia was made a Life Member of Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) in 2022 after serving on their board for 13 years. With a passion for sustainability and the environment, Alexia has led the sustainability team at Belgravia since 2019. Alexia is currently completing her Master in Environment and Sustainability at Monash University.

Biography

Dr Sheila Nguyen is a leading regenerative built environment design professional who has consulted with several sport organisations and professional clubs, globally, on strategic and operational environmental sustainability issues with the most recent work with the Australian Olympic Committee’s Climate Action Plan. Sheila was given the Honorary Lifetime Member award from the British Association for Sustainable Sport (BASIS) and recognised as an Australian Financial Review Top 100 Women of Influence (2019) for her leadership in galvanising the sport industry to protect and respect the natural environment. She has contributed to over 50 internationally peer-reviewed research outputs and media outlets, has been an invited speaker for TEDx in 2015, and presenter at a number of natural environment and sport industry forums, most notably, at COP21 in Paris (2015), the first-time sport has been invited to the climate agreement discussions. Sheila was the invited Chairperson & MC for the Sustainable Innovations in Sport Forum in Amsterdam (2018) (Ajax Stadium) and was the co- MC and Chairwoman for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Sport for Climate Action Framework signatories forum- Sport Positive in 2020 among other changemaking forums. Sheila is on a number of boards and advisory committees including as an Independent Director on the World Lacrosse Sustainability Committee. Sheila is the Co-Founder and an NED of the Sports Environment Alliance, the coalition of sport & planet leaders in Australia and New Zealand working to protect the places where we play so we can continue to do what we love- watch and play sport. She is currently the proud Head of Sustainability for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
